Disneyland Light Poll Falls, Injuring Three, As High Winds Rake Southern CA – Deadline

Three people were hurt by a lamppost that likely fell down due to a strong gust of wind at Disneyland this morning. One person was taken to an area hospital to be treated for serious injuries and two others were treated at the scene and released.

The light pole fell down just before 8:30 a.m. on Main Street in the Anaheim theme park, according to Santa Ana police Sgt. Jon McClintock. The Orange County Register reported that the post was located in the flowerbed around the Disneyland flagpole right near the main entrance to the park

It appears the heavy winds Monday morning brought the pole down, McClintock said.

The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning for Anaheim and much of Orange County warning of “Northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 65 mph, locally up to 70 mph in wind prone locations this evening.”

One location, the oft-gusty Magic Mountain Parkway which is some distance from the park of the same name, recorded gusts to 130 mph this morning before the weather gauge there broke.
