Big changes are coming to a galaxy far, far away! Following the success of Ahsoka, Dave Filoni has been named Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm to help guide the Star Wars franchise.
Dave Filoni has been a bonafide legend in the Star Wars community ever since his work on The Clone Wars. While his journey hasn’t been one without missteps, Star Wars fans have always wanted to see the entire universe follow in the footsteps of projects like Ahsoka. It seems fans may have gotten their wish, with Filoni revealing he’s been named Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm to help guide Star Wars.
“Now I’m what’s called chief creative officer of Lucasfilm,” Filoni tells Vanity Fair. “In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways.”
“In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on,” He continues. “When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.”
While Dave Filoni may not be personally coming up with every Star Wars project from here on out, as much as some fans may want that, it seems his new role as Chief Creative Officer will ensure some consistency in both the lore and quality of the universe going forward. Given this was a position that was sorely needed at Lucasfilm, there was perhaps nobody better to give it to than the creator of Ahsoka herself.
The future of Star Wars looks brighter than ever
During Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm made some exciting announcements for the future of the franchise. At the event, Kathleen Kennedy announced that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni and James Mangold are all set to direct their own Star Wars movies. Details about the projects are still scarce, but each one is set during a different time period in the galaxy far, far away.
The announcement of these three new Star Wars movies marks an exciting time for fans of the franchise. With each movie being directed by a different filmmaker, there is sure to be a unique perspective and style brought to each project.
